Microfinance Information eXchange announced today key staff members will attend the 3rd African Microfinance Conference, to be held in Kampala, Uganda, August 20 – 23, 2007.
Anne-Lucie Lafourcade, Lead Analyst at MIX for sub-Saharan Africa, will present a workshop on Financial Transparency in the microfinance sector. The workshop aims to discuss challenges to microfinance practitioners in the region in terms of compiling and making public relevant performance, operational and financial data. Recommendations will be made on ways to enhance transparency as a method to improve performances and increase capacity to capture commercial funding. The workshop presents an opportunity for microfinance stakeholders to discuss recent developments, particularly in financial reporting, benchmarking and ratings, and to come up with concrete suggestions to advance transparency in African microfinance.
