Washington, DC - The Microfinance Information eXchange, Inc. (The MIX) is pleased to report it has received a grant of $40,000 from the Shelby Cullom Davis Foundation to support The MIX’s Latin American regional office & operations located in Lima, Peru.
The MIX is the world’s leading information service focusing on the microfinance industry in developing countries. It specializes in compiling financial data and social impact data on microfinance institutions (MFIs) from these countries, in standardizing accounting presentations and preparing performance benchmarks, and in serving as an information exchange platform between MFIs, donors, investors, academia, government authorities, and providers of services to MFIs through its MIX Market website.
The MIX opened an office in Lima in May 2005. It is housed and provided business infrastructure by El Consorcio de Organizaciones Privadas de Promoción al Desarrollo de la Micro y Pequeña Empresa (COPEME), a leading consortium of private organizations promoting the development of small and micro-enterprises in Peru.
According to Jared Miller, manager of MIX America Latina, “The Shelby Cullom Davis Foundation’s generous sponsorship of MIX America Latina makes it possible for the MIX to get closer to MFIs in this very dynamic region for microfinance, and to improve our capability to provide timely, accurate and complete benchmark services to MFIs, their funding sources, and other interested parties.”
