The Microfinance Information eXchange, Inc. (The MIX) is pleased to report it has received an unrestricted grant of $100,000 from the Foundation Open Society Institute to support The MIX’s operations in 2005-2006.
The MIX is the world’s leading information service focusing on the microfinance industry in developing countries. It specializes in compiling financial data and social impact data on microfinance institutions (MFIs) from these countries, in standardizing accounting presentations and preparing performance benchmarks, and in serving as an information exchange platform between MFIs, donors, investors, academia, government authorities, and providers of services to MFIs through its MIX Market website.
The MIX recently published the industry's first benchmark results representing trends among 60 leading MFIs over a four year period, from 1999 to 2002, in its MicroBanking Bulletin, and its annual benchmark report on MFIs in Eastern Europe and Central Asia.
According to Peter Wall, executive director of The MIX, “The Foundation Open Society Institute was a founding sponsor of The MIX, and we are very grateful for this vote of confidence, expressed through its continuing financial support.”
