MIX Signs Partnership Agreement with RBAP - MABS
On April 26, 2005, MIX signed a partnership agreement with the Rural Bankers’ Association of the Philippines (RBAP) www.rbap.org, which will be implemented through the USAID sponsored, Microenterprise Access to Banking Services (MABS) project www.rbapmabs.org. RBAP – MABS is currently working with over 70 Filipino rural banks to increase the financial services being offered to low income micro entrepreneurs. The aim of this partnership is to leverage the MIX’s technical knowledge, tools and experience with RBAP-MABS’ general understanding of the Filipino market and experience working with rural banks to improve performance monitoring and benchmarking in the Philippines.
Over the next 12 months, RBAP-MABS and the MIX will build up a database of rural banks’ performance data for benchmarking activities, promote transparency by facilitating the posting of rural bank’s institutional profiles on the MIX Market, and raise awareness and build rural banks’ capacity for reporting. In May, MIX will install its Performance Monitoring and Benchmarking software, the MIX Monitor, and train RBAP-MABS technical staff on its use.
