Micro finance is the provision of a broad range of financial services for the poor and low-income households and their micro enterprises. The interest in micro-finance has burgeoned during the last few decades: multilateral lending agencies, bilateral donor agencies, and developing and developed countries' governments, and non-government organizations (NGOs) all support the development of micro finance.

Joining in this flow BEES has been operating its micro-finance program since 1975. BEES believes that micro finance can be a critical element of an effective poverty reduction strategy. Improved access and efficient provision of savings, credit, and insurance facilities in particular enable the poor to smoothen their consumption. Thus they can manage their risks better, build their assets gradually, develop their micro-enterprises, enhance their income earning capacity, and enjoy an improved quality of life. Through this process the micro-finance program of BEES helps to promote economic growth and development, by creating self-sustaining credit services of the poor.
