Vision of BSS:
To see an India where every child, woman and man can be the best that God meant for him or her to be, without the burden of Poverty.
Mission of BSS:
To do large scale poverty alleviation by providing micro-finance services to poor women, and through them to their families, facilitating increased earnings, better money management, and life quality improvement.
BSS Culture:
We do not take any one for employment, who believes that some human beings are intrinsically worthy of less respect than others based on what caste their family belonged to. We also do not take any one who believes that to clean the office when necessary, or to share in the cleaning of toilets that they use in BSS, is below their dignity and that such work should be done by low caste persons.
Respect And Value For Our Clients:
The basic human respect carries over to our clients, and is further enhanced with a further recognition of their role in enabling us to succeed. We strive to ensure that all our staff at all levels show respect for our clients in every bit of their conduct with our clients. We further strive hard to bring the best possible value proposition for our clients.
Impact Assessment Survey Result:
An internally conducted Impact Assessment survey of our program on our project members was conducted in January 2004. The results were very positive. 99% reported improved economic status and 90% of the families reported improvement in family food situations. 90% expressed that continued availability of BSS Loans was very important for their family's future. After joining BSS program, 99% reported having more courage and hope about their family's future.

Background and Main Challenges: The company was originally incorporated as “Oyster Capitals Pvt. Ltd” in 1994, which was then renamed as “BSS Microfinance Pvt. Ltd.” It is registered with Reserve Bank of India (RBI). The Company has taken over the Microfinance Operations of “Bharatha Swamukti Samsthe” a Registered Public Charitable Trust on 1st April 2008, which was carrying on the Poverty alleviation work since 1997. We are now talking to and looking for potential Equity Investors to invest in the Company, in order to be able to reach many more poor families, and help them to come out of poverty. Our next major milestone that we are working towards, is to reach over one million clients, hopefully in the next 2-3 years.
