LICU has been offering credit and taking deposits for the last 62 years but was dormant and very inactive for the first 41 years. For the last 20 years LICU has grown from $1M to $30M in assets. ($2 Belize to $1USD). Credit includes consumer loans as well as productive loans such Agriculture, retailing and service providers. LICU, as now a recognized, progressive and dynamic credit union, recognizes that with the challenges of our main source of economic activity, the sugar industry, is facing, we need to encourage more strongly micro enterprising. consequenlty, our focus is to empower our beneficiaries with the necessary tools to develop the productive sector.
