Netrokona, where SUS is situated, is predominantly a rural economy, with more than 80% of total population living in rural areas. Here the rural employment becomes surplus and the area is unable to absorb additional labor force. Under these circumstances SUS has started the micro-finance (MF) and micro enterprise (ME) program to raise income through creating employment opportunities and increasing income.
Here the poor people have no access to secure loans from the formal banking system. In the rural area, the only alternative is to borrow from the moneylenders, who demand very high interest rate. That is why the poor people are involved with SUS’s micro-finance program where no security is required and mode of installment and rate of service charge is reasonable. Ocultar
