2001 Save the Children/US (SC/US) carried out a research on MF demand in Hanoi. 2003 (August) SC.US launched MF program in Dong Anh - a poor suburban district of Hanoi, Vietnam. The program ran very well and had good impact on low income household beneficiaries. 2004 (July) transform Hanoi MF project in to binhminh Community Development Consulting Company .Ltd, with non-profit purpose and under the cooperation with Women Union and the assistance of the SC.US to run the project with the aim to develop the MF activities in a long term and sustainable way. 2007: On the way to transform into a registered MFI 2007 (September) Expanded micro-finance program in Bac Ninh province. 2009 (January) handed over microfinance to Center of Small Enterprise Development Assistance (SEDA) – A local NGO. According to Decree No.28 and Circular No.165 of Vietnamese State Bank guideline to establish Microfinance Institution, Binhminh cdc handed over all microfinance activity to SEDA under name binhminh MFI program. SEDA had fully right to apply for binhminh MFI program to become professional microfinance institution. Also 2009 (January) binhminh MFI program expanded area branch in Quang Binh province.
