En savoir plusHope Micro began as the micro enterprise development (MED) project of World Hope International in Sierra Leone in February of 2002. In January 2005 Hope Micro was formally registered with the Government of Sierra Leone as a local, microfinance-specific, independent nongovernmental organization (NGO) separate from World Hope International.
Hope Micro’s five year business plan (2005-2009) focuses on Strengthening Institutional and Human Resource Capacity at Management, Staff and Board levels and Expanding Outreach to the poor.
Between 2005 -2006, Management and Staff capacity was strengthened considerably through local and international workshops. Front and Back office systems have likewise been strengthened through technical assistance partnerships. Thus Hope Micro is poised to accelerate expansion with greater skill and confidence.
The current key challenges: (2007 and beyond)
1. Funds – grants and loans to expand outreach- (Hope micro achieved 100% Operational Sustainability in December 2006).
2. Board Development to strengthen Governance Capacity
3. Review and Update and or upgrade systems and controls to maintain healthy portfolio
4. Continuous capacity building for loan officers, managers to strengthen delivery capacity
