En savoir plusThe Dutch Catholic Development Organization Cordaid (Catholic Organization for Relief and Development Aid) serves all aspects of development cooperation: emergency aid, structural poverty alleviation and health care, working closely together with local organizations. The organization has an annual budget of approximately 160 million Euros and supports 2,000 programmes annually in Africa, Asia and Latin America.
Cordaid's Entrepreneurship sector is responsible for two programs: Small Producers and Microfinance.
Under the Microfinance program it invests some 8 million Euros every year in terms of loans, guarantees or equity participations. In addition, some 4 million Euros are spent annually as grants for supporting technical assistance and capacity building to MFIs and other microfinance actors.
Partner MFIs are selected on the basis of their social mission and are supported in reaching remote areas, vulnerable groups and in empowering their membership/clientele. Both mature MFIs opening up new markets and start-up or emerging MFIs can qualify for Cordaid support.
CORDAID sometimes plays a role in the governance of its partners, especially in the case of wholesale institutions.
In certain cases, technical assistance may be funded by grants, but CORDAID itself does not offer technical assistance services.
Cordaid's loans & guarantees portfolio is managed separately as Cordaid Financial Services by a Fund Manager.
