CRISIL Ratings is Indias leading rating agency with over a 60-percent share of the Indian ratings market. Since its inception in 1987, CRISIL has been instrumental in developing the framework and methodology for rating debt in the context of the Indian financial and regulatory system.
Its association with Standard & Poor’s dates back to 1996 and has now culminated in Standard & Poor’s acquiring a majority shareholding in CRISIL. This partnership helps CRISIL to anticipate new market challenges and introduce value-added rating methodologies. CRISIL Ratings and Standard & Poors collaborate on several projects in the U.S. and in East Asia, and jointly promote business and services in India.
CRISIL undertakes ratings for entities as diverse as banks, financial institutions, utilities, municipal bodies, insurance companies and green-field projects.
