I&P is a private finance company established in 2002 by a group of European entrepreneurs with backgrounds in private equity, business and consultancy. As of 30/09/06, I&P's equity amounted to EUR 10 millions. The 17 shareholders of I&P included private individuals and one public limited company.

I&P invests in support of local entrepreneurs in developing countries, as an equity shareholder and/or a lender, exclusively on two areas of activity:
- Microfinance institutions (MFIs)
- Medium-sized enterprises in Africa

As far as MFIs are concerned, I&P targets two types of investments :
- Equity investments : This is I&P's core business. I&P intends to build up a global long term partnership with MFIs in order to ensure a long-term development. This partnership includes the provision of equity and possibly debt financing, and a participation in the strategic orientation through board membership.
- Non-strategic investments. This activity consists in providing solid MFIs with short or medium-term hard currency loans.
