BACKGROUND:
Al-Falah Aam Unnayan Sangstha (AFAUS) has been implementing need-based programs around its operational areas, primarily in the district of Dinajpur, since its inception in 1989. The organization was founded by local enthusiastic social workers, who have sollicited active participation from all stakeholders in their own development process. The organization has focused on identifying and mobilizing available local resources. The target beneficiaries of AFAUS's programs are marginalized people in rural and urban areas living below the poverty line, such as distressed, landless, and marginal farmers. The organization's main goal is to achieve a sound and good environment for peaceful and happy livelihood.
MAIN CHALLENGES:
-Political disruptions such as strikes.
-Natural and man-made disasters, such as floods, droughts and fires.
-Limitation of activities due to government policies.
-Insufficient assistance from government financial institutions.
-Delay in disbursements of (approved) donor funds.
-Overlap with other NGOs.
-Members' migration.
-Inability to take legal action to collect overdue loans. Hide
