Exclusion from the mainstream South African Economy and commercial activity has left this group impoverished in terms of skills and access to opportunities. A further challenge facing small black contsiness contractors and artisans in South Africa is the lack of creditworthiness as a result of an inability to capitalise and manage their businesses efficiently. Commercial Banks are reluctant to assist since many contractors have neither by usiness nor any credit histories and are therefore regarded as a high risk market. ARTPAC's intervention will seek to create entrepreneurial role models among black small contractors and artisans.
