ASA Initiative is a Financial Non-Governmental Organization,(FNGO) whose core activities include economic empowerment of women and youth to eliminate unemployment and underemployment through its microfinance project, business training and advisory services to clients for business growth. The microfinance is the core business of ASA Initiative. The organization also engaged in networking to provide for HIV/ AIDS education and prevention. This takes the form of contribution towards care and counseling in cash and kind and, behavioral change education and support for HIV/AIDS orphans and vulnerable children. Other social projects include donations towards community improvements, biodiverstiture and networking to provide scholarship for needy but brilliant students., ASA Initiative aims at reducing poverty and its related problems through provision of economic and social development assistance to the deprived and the needy in the Ghanaian society. This is pursued through networking with other developmental partners, locally and internationally. The organisation currently operates in the Central Region of Ghana with three (3) offices and one (1) service point. It has also completed market tesing in the Western, Eastern and Brong Ahafo Regions of Ghana. At the grassroot level, ASA Initiative is highly involved in the promotion and development of microenterprises. The main challenge of the institution is the ability to attract funding in the form of loans to expand its microfinance project. This is because the requirements by most lenders/investors in terms of portfolio size is quite high for the organization to meet currently. Hide
