BRAC is a development organization, working towards the vision of building “a just, enlightened, healthy and democratic world free from hunger, poverty, environmental degradation and all forms of exploitation”. Since its establishment in February 1972 in Bangladesh, BRAC has been acting as both the initiator and catalyst for many innovations and changes through its years of struggle against chronic deprivation, hunger and injustice. In different countries around the globe, BRAC has been working with people whose lives are dominated by extreme poverty, illiteracy, disease and other disadvantages, striving to improve their quality of life though multifaceted development interventions. These include economic and social development, health, education, human rights and legal services. Since 2002 BRAC has been working in Afghanistan, moved to Sri Lanka after Tsunami, later on to Southern Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda and more recently in Sierra Leone and Liberia. Hide
