CARD is an institution that comprises both NGO and a Bank. In 1990, CARD formally launched the Grameen Bank replication program, entiteld the Landless People's Development Fund (LPDF), as its credit arm. Since, CARD's inception, the ultimate vision of establishing a formal banking institution owned, controlled and managed by its landless rural members has always been the program's mission. Now that CARD has started operationalizing its vision since September 01, 1997--the formal launching of the CARD bank, still is on it way of expanding and realizing its ultimate goal--to be a program partner of the rural poor in combating the poverty situation in the country.
