Remittances to Guatemala from expatriates working abroad rose 8 percent in the first quarter compared with the same period in 2011, the country’s central bank said Wednesday.
Expats wired a total of $1.06 billion to their families back home in the first three months of 2012, according to a report on the Web page of the Banco de Guatemala.
