FATEN emerged out of a Save The Children program launched in Palestine in 1995. Our main challenges are the siege, curfews and blockades imposed by the Israeli military on Palestinian-occupied territories since the eruption of the second Palestinian Intifada in September, 2000. Other challenges include the dramatically deteriorated economy; many clients have been forced to close their businesses either because they relied on buying goods from Egypt and Jordan, because they relied on raw materials from Israel, or because the demand fro the products and services dropped severely making their businesses unsustainable.
There are restrictions imposed on the movement of our staff to reach their offices and to visit clients in addition to the inability of our clients to leave their villages to repay and receive new loans.
