The main donor of FFF activity as of its start is NOVIB ((Netherlands Organization for International Development Co-operation). Other donors to minor projects are Phare Partnership, The Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The main partners:Grape Producers’ Associations, Local institutions that operate in the agricultural sector, and International institutions, NOVIB, AFRICA 70’, ISTAME (“Institute of strategic studies and development-Andreas Papandreu”). A project in the course of implementation is “Rehabilitation of viticulture in Albania”, started as of December 1998 -until December 31, 2004. The project has standed on two components: OTAP (Organization Training and Assistance Program) and MFP (Micro Finance program). The role of OTAP is to provide training and technical assistance in vineyarding , creation and strengthening of the village associations, gender development and assistance in marketing and inputs’ supply. MFP primary goal is to provide loans for the rehabilitation or creation of vineyards, to small farmers. The project is a very interesting one, with a good potential impact on the viticulture sector in Albania. It is unique and has become well known in Albania. Results so far are promising and the FFF has laid a solid foundation in terms of credit methodology and quality of field staff. Some important challenges however have come up for the coming future, mainly concerning the transformation of the current institutional setting, a "credit plus" NGO, into a viable and healthy Micro Finance Institution (MFI). Before its registration as a company limited by guarantee in April 1999, SMEP operated as a small project of the national Council of Churches of Kenya (NCCK). The project started as a relief arm of NCCK providing poor people in slums with food and later small business grants. In 1990 the scheme adopted the group lending method (adapted from the Grameen bank model) through support from USAID. The decision to give SMEP a separate legal entity from NCCK was to enable it to address the problems of poverty and unemployment more professionally and aggressively.

In doing this, ASDEB aims to reduce the negative impact of poverty, especially on women and children, and to reduce their vulnerability in the face of the AIDS epidemic. The microcredit activities, which began with its own funds in 1997, were only able to benefit 97 women. Insuffucient lines of credit and operating funds were the principle challenges facing ASDEB. However, ASDEB has now succeeded in disbursing credit to more than 800 clients (of which 96% are women). The member training that is a prerequisite for credit disbursal has been responsible for the high recovery rate enjoyed by ASDEB.
