Having been established in 1994 as a food security project, HKL successfully transformed itself into a commercial company named “Hattha Kaksekar Limited” and was licensed by the National Bank of Cambodia to operate microfinance service across the country. Besides its vision to become a leading and sustainable MFI in the country, HKL is also an outstanding MFI in providing many inclusive financial services to women and low income families in rural areas. HKL has US $ 2.7 million from eight shareholders such as Hattha Kaksekar NGO (20.02%), Oikocredit(20.02%), SIDI (15%), NORFUND (14.15%), ASN-Novib Fund (14.15%), HK SA (7.68%), CORDAID (6.95%), and Dr. DY DAVUTH(2.04%).
