In 1983, a local group of private business leaders decided that the creation of small enterprises will be the way to solve the unemployment high rates in the city of Medellín. These businessmen created the concept of "fami-empresa", which means a small enterprise that could not have access to the formal financial system. Understanding the needs of these "fami-empresarios" (micro-entrepreneurs), INTERACTUAR began providing technical assistance and financial services allowing them to start productive businesses and to improve the ones that already existed. Currently, ACTUAR is widening its focus and has developed a number of additional programs, such as a Design Center, a Food Laboratory, an Advisory program in the place of work, an Environmental Program (including both training and profitable recycling plant) and a marketing support.
Towards the end of the year 2008, Actuar renovated its name and image cooperative to Interactuar Now we interact with the micro entrepreneurs dreams, we interact with Antioquia; we interact with Colombia and all of those people who have believed in us. Hide
