MICROINVEST was established by the Soros Foundation Moldova and the Moldova Microfinance Alliance ("MMA", NGO) to provide development finance to small business initiatives in rural and urban areas in the Republic of Moldova. MICROINVEST has taken over the regional staff and branch network of MMA which during its lifetime, 1997-2003, had formed 235 Savings and Credit Associations ("SCA").
