ProCredit S.A. is a development-oriented finance company. We offer excellent customer service and a wide range of loan products. We focus on lending to micro, small and medium-sized enterprises, as we are convinced that these businesses create the largest number of jobs and make a vital contribution to the economies in which they operate. Our company explicitly avoids all speculative lines of business and issues large loans only in exceptional cases, thus minimizing the risk associated with such activities. Our shareholders expect a sustainable return on investment, but are not primarily interested in short-term profit maximization. We invest extensively in the training of our staff in order to create an enjoyable and efficient working atmosphere, and to provide the friendliest and most competent service possible for our customers. ProCredit was established as a finance company in December 1999 under the name Micro Enterprise Credit (MEC) din Moldova S.A. Its ownership structure and corporate philosophy are unique in the Moldovan financial sector. Beginning with July 2004 the company is known as ProCredit following a decision by its shareholders to adopt a single name and logo for their 19 microfinance banks and companies worldwide. As of 31 of December 2004 the combined loan portfolio of the ProCredit Group consists of 500,000 clients, representing a total volume of over EUR 1.2 billion. ProCredit's founders and current shareholders are also the initiators of international programmes for promoting the small business sector in developing countries and transition economies. They are ProCredit Holding (former IMI), the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the Stichting DOEN Foundation and the Western NIS Enterprise Fund (WNISEF).
