Background and Main Challenges: 
Sahara Uttarayan was established as a society in the year 2001 with an objective to provide relief and rehabilitation after the devastating flood in the region. It was promoted by Mr. Prakash Banerjee and Mr. Kartick Biswas who left Sahara Utsarga to set up their own MFI.
