Ufanisi Afrika in year 2002 as a self help project providing savings mobilization services to low income earners who could not qualify to open bank accounts. In year 2003 Ufanisi was registered as a co-operative to provide financial and technological support to disadvantaged people to set up and expand income generating activities.
In year 2004 Ufanisi began providing solidarity group loans to poor women.
Ufanisi provides its clients with training in basic skills in business management, formulating a business plans, seed capital and access to business mentoring services. The main challenge is insufficient on-lending capital. Ufanisi is seeking grants, loans and guarantees to meet demand for its loans. Ufanisi is also seeking technical support in IT.
