In Ghana, rising social and economic changes are bringing along challenges and opportunities. Deepening rural and urban deprivation, rising unemployment especially among the youth, inadequate development information, social and economic exclusion, among others, are creating mass poverty, disillusionment and dependency. On the other hand, political democratization, private sector and free market policy, international development support and respectability of Ghana are creating new opportunities.
To address these social and economic challenges, Y-SEF among other approaches, partners with Government Agencies, Local and International NGOs, Development Partners, Foundations, Social Enterprise Foundations among others, to meet the needs of the socially and economically deprived in our communities as a first step to addressing their socio-economic empowerment needs.
Y-SEF begun its life as the Young Entrepreneurs Development Fund (YEDF) – popularly called YEDAF –, which was registered in 1996 as an association limited by guarantee with a status as non-profit, non-political, non-governmental organization (NGO). In August 2000 a re-organization took place resulting in the reformation of Youth and Social Enterprise Fund (Y-SEF) with the objective responsibility to carry on the activities of YEDAF. Hide
