Read moreThe Association of Microfinance Organizations of Kazakhstan (AMFOK) is a non-commercial association of microfinance organizations, which operates throughout Kazakhstan. In February 2004, AMFOK was founded by six leading Kazakh microfinance organizations in order to solve the challenges of microfinance development in Kazakhstan. In May 2004, AMFOK signed a grant agreement with the Central Asian Microfinance Alliance (CAMFA), through which AMFOK receives financial and technical assistance in implementing its objectives.
AMFOK’s mission is to achieve high professional standards of MFI governance in Kazakhstan through the application of best microfinance practices. AMFOK’s long-term objective is to become a leader in the establishment and development of the microfinance industry in Kazakhstan. As of July 2009, AMFOK has 70 member organizations. The Association complies with democratic governance principles in running its activities. These include the election of its governing bodies, collective decision-making, and collective responsibility for all decisions that are made.
