Working Capital for Community Needs (formerly known as the Wisconsin Coordinating Council on Nicaragua) administers the program "The Nicaraguan Credit Alternatives Fund (NICA Fund)". The NICA Fund channels funds from socially responsible investors to Nicaraguan non-governmental organizations who are providing credit to marginalized sectors. The NICA Fund partners with these microfinance institutions who serve low-income individuals and groups seeking capital for small enterprises in agriculture, manufacturing and retail, as well as funding for education and housing improvement.
